Well, that sucks. If anyone has learned this offseason that visiting a team is not the same as signing with them,
@@@@@,
baidu@@@@@, it's the Chiefs (ahem, ...). But I can see the draw of playing for another NFC East team for Jackson, who is leaving Philly.
610 Sports Danny Parkins reported that the Chiefs had reached out to Jackson's camp. Yahoo! Sports, NFL Network and others have reported on the Chiefs interest in Jackson. Andy Reid is his former coach so that's not a total shock that they've at least looked into it.
Hogs Haven:
The big unknown at this point is the money involved. We don't know what Jackson is looking for. We do know his last deal was 5 years, $47 million. The Chiefs currently have about $4.5 million in cap space, which is less than the Redskins ($6.8 million), ($28 million), ($18 million) and others said to be interested. But Jackson's initial 5-year deal with the Eagles had his first year cap number at $3 million. Dwayne Bowe's big deal last year had a first year cap number of $4 million. So the Chiefs could fit him in this year if they wanted ... it just means tough decisions with other players down the line.
The Redskins have only a couple million bucks more in cap space than the Chiefs do. The potential contract offers can't be that far off...
At this point, I want the Chiefs to make this happen. The frustrating part is that, besides knowing the Chiefs reached out, we don't know whether they're legitimately interested in making this happen.
